There are two major efforts in the works to improve cycling in Door County.
The effort to build purpose-built mountain bike trails in Peninsula State Park is nearing the construction phase. Supporters have raised the money for the first phase of construction and are in the process of selecting a builder. This effort is lead by our ride director, Brian Fitzgerald, and could bring great off-road trails to the park for 2025.
Meanwhile, our friend Susan Stauber continues to move mountains in Egg Harbor as she works toward getting off-road, multimodal trail connections between Egg Harbor and Fish Creek with the Egg Harbor Trails initiative. Representatives recently spoke at the Wisconsin Bike Fed conference and partnerships have been formed with neighboring communities, the National Park Service, and other cycling organizations.
